This bulldog of inshore waters has become quite the celebrity in recent years, with professional anglers pursuing it in televised tournaments. Don’t worry, though.  The attention has not gone to its head.  Red fish are recognizable by their coppery color, down-turned mouth, and distinctive black spot at the base of the tail.  An interesting fact — when red fish have been feeding on blue crabs, the margins of their fins develop a beautiful translucent blue sheen.
